SoundsYour own library

Your files, under your own licence, kept for you alone: a loop or a one-shot you add plays only in your films. The built-in library is explicitly free (Kenney CC0, uisfx and Unity-UI MIT); nothing of ours is uploaded. Running the studio on your own machine adds your Splice folder and your libraries.

How it works

Composer C scores a picture the way a composer would in a spotting session: it asks before it assumes, and every answer lands on the timeline.

The six stages

Bring it in. Your cut, or the sample film. Is it final, or will it change?
The moments. What should the music notice? Hits, turns, the hero moment.
Time. Breathe freely, or lock to a beat: THIRI fits a tempo so the cuts land on the grid.
Key and colour. A key that suits the picture, and the mood in words.
The palette. Beds, lines, hits, loops and one-shots, each on its own track, each a take you can trim, split or re-make.
Export. The mix at −16 LUFS, the stems, the MP4, the score MIDI and a verify report that measures what it claims.

The workspace

The chat on the left is the guide. Ctrl+B or Cmd+B folds it away.
The conductor strip under the transport owns tempo and frames: bars and beats, the moments as ticks (drag one to move it, double-click to add one), the cuts, the chord in every bar. Click its head to edit the tempo, the key and the chords.
The arrangement graph under the lanes is the whole score as one line. The wheel zooms around the pointer, dragging pans, and the lanes follow.
The overview along the bottom is the whole film summed the way the export sums it, with the window you are looking at as a box you can drag or resize, and the level of the loop range or the selected clip.
Keys: space plays, K stops, L plays faster, J steps back a second, Home and End jump, [ and ] set the loop, arrows step frames, PageUp and PageDown jump between cuts, Alt with the arrows between bars, + and - zoom, 0 fits the film.

Prompting each engine

Csound hears a sound word: impact, riser, whoosh, pulse, drone, tick, bell, pluck, tuned to the chord at the frame.
THIRI strings and chords take no words: pin chords to frames and choose a voicing style and an instrument.
Lyria takes genre and mood first, instruments second; tempo and key come from the conductor, never from the words.
Gemini reads a sentence: the instrument, the density, the shape of the line.
Loops and one-shots are your own sounds, found by their names and by words like dark, wood, knock, 120.
Tempo and key live on the conductor and the frame, so put them there and prompt for the sound.

Timing you can trust

Every take carries the request it was made from. Change the tempo and the stale takes are listed; one press re-makes them on the new grid, and the old ones stay. The export audits every layer against the grid and prints the numbers.
